Pangolins can be found in Africa and Asia, in woodlands and savannas. Although they don’t look it, some species are known to live in trees. They use their long tails to help hold onto branches, while others live in small burrows they dig out with their long, curved claws. They also use their claws to help dig up dirt mounds for food. A pangolin's diet consists of ants, termites, and small stones and sand. When they're on the hunt for food, a pangolin will rise on its hind legs and sniff the air for any mounds nearby. They do most of their hunting during the night, spending the day in their burrows. They can eat around 70 million insects a year, which is roughly 5.3 million a month.
