Most people presume that pangolins are part of the reptile family, since they share the same scaly look, but they are mammals. Female pangolins give birth to their babies, known as pangopups, after 2-4 months. When the babies are first born, their skin is soft, and they are left unprotected. Most other mammal species take weeks or months to form something to protect them, but pangopup's scales are fully formed around day two. Pangopups will stay with their mothers for 3 to 4 months, traveling on their mothers' tails instead of walking behind them. If a baby pangolin is threatened, it will curl into a ball, and their mothers will curl around them.
