Hiking and Parks

The State Parks all have beautiful scenery and are great places to hike. The parks offer great playgrounds for kids. If you have any additional ideas, contact me on my contact page! I'd love to hear what you like to do.

Good Earth State Park

Located in Lincoln County, South Dakota. Along the big Sioux River. The park includes the Blood Run Site, a National Historic Landmark as history of settlement for thousands of Native Americans.

Palisades State Park

Located in Minnehaha County, South Dakota. Big cliffs, and rock formations from pink Sioux Quartzite. The park is located just south of Garretson.

Devils Gulch

Located in Minnehaha County, South Dakota. The park is also located in Garretson. The legend of Jesse James is showed there. They have walking trails, and waterfalls.

Falls Park

Located in central Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It is a public park includes a café, observation tower, remains of an old mill, and beautiful scenery.

Pipestone National Monument

If you want to make a little drive go to The Pipestone National Monument. I discovered it last year and I loved it. They have history inside of the building about Native Americans and the importance of the quarried red stone.

Jacobson Plaza

A new year-round addition to the city’s park system. They have a skate ribbon, playground, splashpad, and a dog park. Great place for everyone!

Sertoma Park

Next to the Butterfly house and Aquarium. With a big picnic shelter, the park features five play pods. It has a great variety of parks for kids.

Terrace Park

With enchanting Japanese gardens, swimming pools, a lake, and sports fields.

Mckennan Park

Sioux Falls oldest developed park. It includes a free wading pool, basketball court, 8 lit tennis courts, shuffleboard, playground, and picnic shelter.

Paisley Park

Riverside Park offering multiuse trails, a large playground for kids, and baseball fields.
