Shattering Shield

Novels as a medium are rather complex. Not impossible to make, especially for a story like this. The problem lies in where one draws the line for subject matter to include. Including too much information about the setting may be detrimental to the story.

AAdditionally, trying to settle on a single story could be a struggle in itself. A struggling scavenger trying to flee parasitic mushrooms. A knight trying to slay a dragon. A soldier trying to stop the fascistic conquest of his home tunnel. All of these tales could take place parallel to each other and these characters could even run into each other, given time.

FFilm also has the problems of trying to condense a setting within a presentable package. But it's even more restrained. Not only do you have a much more constrained time limit, you also have the problem of having many more practical constraints.

This could be from costs of animation or the restraints of live action and funding shortages. However, the advantage is you have a much more easily consumed and presented product.

GAMES

Shattering Shield

Possibly the most labor intensive and expensive of the mediums, Video Games would possibly be the best medium for stories in a setting like this.

Ideal genres of games would be Open World Role Playing Games or Grand Strategy. Open World RPGs would allow for the player to explore the setting unabated. For this genre of game, it would be ideal to explore a particular region of the world.

Grand Strategy is a kind of Strategy game where a player takes control of a country and is given the responsibilities of the head of state. Controlling the military, maintaining civilian satisfaction, and practicing trade with other nations. This allows for a more grand scale style of story-telling.
