Noel (left) and Liam (right) grew up in Manchester, England. In 1982, their mother got them out of an abusive household. Noel famously said “beating the talent into me,” referring to this time. In 1991 Liam joined the band The Rain, later that year Noel joined, bringing his songwriting skills. In 1993, the band—now named Oasis—signed a record deal with Creation Records founder Alan McGee.
